Omaha Steaks Gives! to Take Flight Farms in Hourly Prize Sponsorship

Omaha Steaks was delighted to participate in the Omaha Gives! 24-hour online giving event as the hourly prize sponsor, donating an additional $1,000 per hour to one randomly selected non-profit in the Omaha metro area. One of the organizations we were proud to support during the charitable giving event was Take Flight Farms.

Take Flight Farms is an 11-year-old organization that incorporates equine therapy (the use of horses) to address a variety of mental health and behavioral issues in people. Horses are naturally intuitive animals that are known for their healing abilities, particularly with adolescents. Through this program, at-risk youth are able to set individual goals according to their needs, and learn the skills necessary to reach these goals. Working with horses helps teach valuable communication patterns, behavioral skills, relationship building skills and problem-solving skills.

Lissa Sutton, the organization’s Executive Director, explained that horses are so special to work with because they mirror your actions and quickly pick up on nonverbal cues. They are very similar to humans in that they observe, act and react like a human does, and they are very aware of their surroundings.

Take Flight Farms was extremely grateful to be able to participate in the Omaha Gives! event.

“I wish an event like this could occur more than once a year, because it does so many great things for a number of great local non-profits. It would be so amazing if the Omaha Gives! event expanded into a state-wide event that could help as many organizations as possible,” Sutton said.

All those involved with Take Flight Farms were both thrilled and surprised to have won the additional $1,000 from Omaha Steaks.

“We didn’t know what to do or how to react, just so happy and amazed by all of the support,” Sutton said. “The event was a win-win for all parties involved.”

Omaha Steaks was very pleased to work with Take Flight Farms through Omaha Gives!, and proud to support this great community-focused organization!
