The Armed Forces Foundation – Serving Those Who Serve
As part of our partnership with the Armed Forces Foundation during our Omaha Steaks Salute Our Troops campaign, we wanted to feature a sampling of the good works and stories that AFF workers and program participants experience on a regular basis.
The Armed Forces Foundation (AFF) offers vital assistance to active-duty and retired personnel, National Guard, Reserve Components and military families as they cope with difficult circumstances. When a service member sustains combat injuries overseas, they and their family face a long, difficult road to recovery. The moment a wounded warrior arrives at the hospital, the Armed Forces Foundation steps in to assist the family in traveling to his or her side and provides lodging for them to stay with their loved one. The foundation also provides financial assistance, supplementing income while the family waits.
Through therapeutic recreational and outreach programs, such as “Troops to the Track” via our partner NASCAR, outdoor hunting programs and countless others, the AFF assists service members through their physical recovery and provides relief from the mental stress of Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) and Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI). Education and advocacy for these critical areas are vital to improved care and treatment, a mission the AFF proactively undertakes. The AFF provides other opportunities as well, sponsoring military family events, a national education initiative surrounding Veterans Day and Christmas toy drives. The Armed Forces Foundation lives by the motto “serving those who serve,” and, recognizing that families serve too, the AFF seeks to provide a well-rounded program of assistance and support for the entire military family unit.
The AFF has been recognized by President George W. Bush, the United States Congress, the Department of Defense, the Department of Veterans Affairs, The Department of Education and the Department of Energy for its dedication to America’s Service Members.
